At the Visit ?

During your consultation we will talk about you and your medical, surgical, dietary, mental health history including medications.

A detailed discussion of your birth and breastfeeding stories and where you are right now.

Access to your baby’s health/growth book will help me check in on progress so far with your visits with your local maternal and child health nurse or midwife visits from the hospital.

Together we can discuss your current concerns, your feeding goals and review any equipment you may be using.

Observing a breastfeed or breastfeeds ( if it’s cluster time!) and observing a pumping session if this is necessary.

I will email you a plan on the day of the appointment which may include links to additional information, practising techniques and recommendations to consult with other health practitioners if necessary.

Breastfeeding challenges may not be able to be resolved in a few hours so a check in via phone after the home visit can help with any questions and see what if any further support is needed.

What to Expect ?

After you have scheduled your appointment via email or phone , you will receive a text or email confirming the details and a reminder on the day.

Generally it is suggested to feed your baby 60-90 minutes prior to the appointment time, however baby may have other ideas and not be aware of our adult time schedules! So please don’t worry if this is not possible.

It is valuable to have a partner , friend or family member to be with you during the consult and or to support you by looking after your other children.

Please consider how to secure any fur babies during the consult either outside or in another space. Some dogs are very protective of their mothers and babies.
